Inspired by aviation - Leonardo Airport Hotel

The architecture of the new building was inspired by aviation. The three-dimensional façade is designed to resemble the turbulence of an aerofoil. The façade features an ETIC system and mineral finishing coat and is painted to suit the circumstances. The particular challenges, also with regard to the warranty, included the integration of the sun protection system and the numerous penetrations of the insulation system caused by the attachment of the aluminium slats. The integration of the sun protection was achieved by fitting prefabricated Baumit louvre boxes. The boxes are recessed into the insulation level, thus forming a special, uninterrupted façade surface. Extremely important: the penetrations were enclosed with the Supra Compact connection system and equipped with the corresponding joint sealing tapes. A visually and technically sophisticated solution was developed and skilfully executed by the architect/building contractor.
