Funkenwiese residential estate - close to an idyllic, green biotope

Within the residential area, what is known as the Funkenwiese was kept free of construction For many years. A new neighbourhood was carefully developed. The new residential estate is intended to complement existing structures from various phases of urban growth. In this context, as a component of the existing landscape zone, the biotope with its existing paths and accompanying stock of trees, as well as the special topography, formed the focal point of the planning. The profiled 5-7-storey point blocks and the 4-storey polygonal rows interconnect to create an open urban space framed by the landscape of the biotope. The connection to the existing paths preserves the accessibility of the area and strengthens its original character. The clear zoning of the open spaces merges harmoniously into the new urban development setting and complements it with new communal areas and play areas in a central location. All the ground-floor flats will have spacious south- or west-facing outdoor areas. Executing the entire façade surface uniformly with a brushed finish is a clear sign of craftsmanship. The offset elements were accentuated.
